Dr Alex Botvinnik

Alex obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Karmiel ORT College, and then a M.Sc. in Biology from the University of Haifa. He received his Ph.D. degree in Neurobiology from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and performed postdoctoral research in an Innate Immunology lab in the same university. His scientific interests lie in finding practical treatment solutions for mood disorders in humans. He is currently engaged in research in the Hadassah BrainLabs Center for Psychedelic Research, focusing on the therapeutic potential of psychedelics and other substances, specifically psilocybin, 5-Meo-DMT, DMT and other compounds, for treating psychiatric disorders. In his research, he utilizes techniques such as Western blotting, Metabolomics, and Magnetometer measurement to study the effects of these compounds on behaviors such as the head twitch response and on synaptic plasticity. Alex lives in Jerusalem, loves travelling and good movies.
