Dr Tzuri Lifschytz

Laboratory Manager

Dr. Tzuri Lifschytz completed his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Bernard Lerer, in studying the effects of triiodothyronine (T3) on depression via the serotonergic system. After completing his doctorate in 2007, Tzuri continued his work in Professor Lerer’s lab first as a post-doctoral scientist (2007-2010), a research scientist (2010-2020) and now as laboratory manager. Tzuri’s work focuses on neuropsychopharmacology and biological psychiatry, using his expertise in behavioral monitoring of animals and managing transgenic mice reproduction colonies. The projects he participated in include study of the behavioral effects of RGS2 KO gene mice to modulate antipsychotic drugs parkinsonian effects in mice and the effects of Ahi1 gene on anxious like phenotypes in mice. During the last 2 years, Tzuri has led a series of pre-clinical projects on the potential use of psychedelic compounds in treating several psychiatric disorders such as obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, anxiety and schizophrenia. In these projects, as before, Tzuri employ methods of animal behavioral monitoring, psychopharmacology and use of mutant mice.
