Uriel Heresco-Levy M.D., is Full Professor of Psychiatry at Hadassah Medical School, Hebrew University and serves as Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs at Herzog Medical Center, Jerusalem, Israel. He is a graduate of Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv, Israel and has been a post-doctoral research fellow at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY, USA. Between 2013-2021 he served as Director of the Psychiatry Division at Herzog Medical Center. Dr. Heresco-Levy’s research interests have focused for over 30 years on the role of glutamatergic neurotransmission in neuropsychiatric disorders. He is a pioneer in the field of NMDA receptor modulation in schizophrenia, depression and Parkinson’s disease and has performed some of the first clinical trials with NMDA receptor modulators such as glycine, D-serine and D-cycloserine. His work has been amply published, with over 8,200 citations, and he is inventor in patents dealing with NMDA modulators for depression, movement and inflammation disorders, encephalopathies and in conjunction with psychedelics.
